DBA – Fictitious Business Name — California requires any business doing business using a name not their own to file a Fictitious Business Statement in the County where doing Business. This may provide limited name protection. However, such protection is extremely limited. For example a corporation with the same name has the exclusive right to use that name in every county in California.
